About Sky Racing

Sky Racing is a world leader in multi-venue, multi-channel race broadcasting, telecasting more than 140,000 races each year to millions of viewers in Australia and around the globe. Our Frenchs Forest headquarters broadcast close to 24 hours of live television across three separate channels daily.

Role Summary

The successful Trainee Studio Operator will report to their Studio Supervisor and be required to:

  • Perform all duties as specified by your Studio Supervisor including but not limited to several roles within the production department; such as Vision Switching, Directors Assistant or Audio Director.
  • Work with a diverse team of operators under the instructions of your director and use some of the newest technologies to broadcast live racing throughout Australia and abroad.
  • Specialise in one of several roles and ensure an error free and technically sound production daily.
  • Work closely and cohesively within your department to ensure all operators are informed and prepared for broadcast.
  • Work flexible working hours across a seven-day work week
  • Learn and use industry standard tools such as Viz or Grass Valley Vision desks and create live and recorded content

  • You will need to be flexible and versatile and able to learn new skills and adapt to an evolving television environment.
  • Being able to follow instructions is essential as is taking initiative when required, whilst being creative and inspired is encouraged.
  • We will provide you with the training to learn skills including but not limited to Directors Assistant, Audio Director or Vision Switcher. With future opportunities to learn Directing, Producing and more.
  • Someone who can keep calm under pressure and handle stressful situations with poise
