Engineering Manager - UHT

About the role

Reporting into the site General Manager this role will be responsible for equipment performance and management of the maintenance team of a fully automated UHT factory.

This is a high volume state of the art factory and so this role requires an understanding of complex processing and automated packaging systems. 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • The ongoing development and improvement of all maintenance and preventative maintenance activities across site;
  • Development and leadership of the engineering team to achieve and maintain operational reliability through existing and advanced maintenance methodologies including but not limited to, FMEA, QCO, RCA, RCM techniques;
  • Identifying, implementing and delivering continuous improvement, cost optimisation and process efficiency activities across the site;
  • Responsible for CAPEX project management and solid integration into the existing plant.
  • Create and improve maintenance processes, planning and policies in order to increase plant up time, building a reliability based culture;
  • Executing the strategic direction of the Engineering function along with the training and development of all staff; and
  • Focused on training, developing and multi- skilling your maintenance team whilst removing the need for out sourced contract support.

About you

You will have a thorough working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, automation and advanced factory control systems. Additionally, you will have:

  • Completed a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Automation Engineering;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a hands on Engineering role, within an FMCG environment;
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement Qualifications e.g. Six Sigma;
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills;
  • Familiar with production and planning concepts (S&OP processes);
  • Demonstrated use of lean manufacturing methodologies;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organisation;
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view; and
  • Persuasive with details and facts.
