Supply Chain Australianisation Lead

Through participation in the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) / Destroyer Guided Missile (DDG), Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR), Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) and LHD Landing Craft (LLC) programs, Navantia Australia has been a part of interesting, innovative and cutting-edge shipbuilding and sustainment activities.

As a key part of the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan, we are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding capability and we want you to grow your career with us.

We are currently looking for an experienced Supply Chain Australianisation Lead to join the team and add value through developing AIC and provide localised solutions for the long-term sustainment of Maritime Assets.  

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a strategy to improve the efficiency of the supply chain with an increased focus on Australian content
  • Expand the supplier and subcontractor base by working with local industry to identify opportunities for participation in the supply chain and developing the AIC plan
  • Evaluate AIC to identify potential partners for the sustainment of key systems
  • Lead the modelling and optimisation of supply chain operations and activities including transportation, material handling and customs and import costs
  • Review local agents and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) representatives to ascertain real capabilities to reduce overall costs of services and deliver supply chain solutions that offer Value for Money (VFM)
  • Capacity to lead and implement supply chain initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, improve performance and drive continuous improvement
  • Engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills with the capability to develop and execute long-term agreements with service providers and suppliers

 

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • An understanding of AIC requirements including plans, schedules and reporting.
  • Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of Baseline.
  • Proven experience working in a large and complex supply chain environment, preferably in the defence sector or a similar environment
  • Significant experience in operational execution including customer service, sales and operations planning, inventory management, international inbound freight, exports, warehousing, local packaged and bulk distribution and returnable packaging
  • Extensive experience in developing and establishing long term supply chain capability & strategy, (engineering industry preferable)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients
  • A degree qualification in a technical discipline (desirable)
