Hutia te rito o te harakeke, kei hea te kōmako e kō?
If the centre shoot of the flax is pulled out, from where will the bellbird sing?
This area of law, more than any other, is about replanting people's roots and providing them with a platform from which to sing their song. It is about building a better and fairer Aotearoa New Zealand, and is both important and rewarding.
Woodward Law is looking for a skilled and dynamic solicitor to work in the areas of Māori Law and public law, on groundbreaking cases and interesting policy matters. Relevant experience includes resource management issues, trust law and land law.
The ideal candidate will be confident in cross-cultural communication and in working with Māori communities. The candidate will also be committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The successful candidate must have good initiative and time management, be fully computer literate and have a full drivers' licence. Familiarity with legal aid is also beneficial.
The experience offered at Woodward Law is unrivalled. The firm is looking for a lawyer that will make the most of this, with the energy and commitment that will do its clients justice.
The office is boutique but the work is high-octane and fast-paced. The successful candidate will have access to all the support that they need, but will also be expected to add value to the firm and deliver for its clients.
Graduate lawyers are welcome to apply for this position, but should already have a practising certificate.
