Policy Support Officer

The primary function of this position is to provide a range of policy support functions to Insurance and Superannuation products across the Suncorp Group.  These products include Consumer, Life, Corporate, Commercial, Workers Compensation and CTP. Our aim is to provide consistent customer experience across all areas of the business by driving executional excellence of the “how” we do things.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely processing and preparation of policy administration activities including quote preparation, new business, endorsements, cancellations and renewals into mainframe or web applications specific to each portfolio
  • Monitoring and actioning the centralised mailboxes or Insurance Workflow systems
  • Action and process exceptions from our extended off shore teams and ensure that work flows through to correct next step for our customers
  • Strong emphasis on cross training within the team including yourself and team members
  • Update and maintain SOP’s as requested by Technical Officer or Leaders, including identifying trends to reduce referral exceptions or improve customer experience
  • Support Monetary Operations requests as required specific by product type
  • Maintain knowledge of our products and insurance guidelines
  • Adhere to the functional alignment model putting our customers first
  • Support and foster relationships with our stakeholders and partners
  • Adhere to all compliance requirements and complete all compliance training
  • Deliver outstanding customer service within required service level agreements
  • Look for better ways of doing things to lift our customers expectations
  • Undertake other Operations Functions as required by your leader to support the Insurance Operations Teams

Skills & Experience

  • Cert III in business or other related discipline – desired
  • Previous experience in Superannuation or Life Insurance - desired
  • Demonstrated experience and high performance in a business operations role
  • Proven experience in balancing multiple key deliverables in a dynamic environment
  • Strong time management skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing data input activities
  • Developing problem solving skills, including the ability to consider different possible solutions to a problem and the application of judgement required to resolve minor issues
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to apply underwriting guidelines/experience in preparing recommendations for individual risk acceptance or declinature
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills including ability to deal with difficult customers and build relationships and rapport at all levels
  • Effective communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision and manage individual workload within established priorities
  • Team focused and participating team player
