Engineering Manager/ Shift Engineer

Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney is the city's leading luxury hotel. Located in the historic Rocks district between the Sydney Opera and Harbour Bridge, our hotel offers 565 spacious and inspired luxury guests rooms and suites, five food & beverage outlets and 20 functions rooms.

Shangri-La Hotel Sydney is currently looking both a Service Manager and a Shift Engineer for their Engineering department.

As a Service Manager you will be responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating the duties of Engineering operations /PM as directed by the Director of Engineering or his designee. You also will responsible assisting the team in maintaining standards and procedures and effective performance of plant & equipment within the property.  You will adhere to all technical inspection and testing requirements of the Corporate Policies and Procedures.

The Shift Engineer will monitor and control the efficient operation of all hotel systems including air conditioning, steam distribution, water and waste reticulation, pool systems, refrigeration and fire safety equipment etc., further adjust and repair equipment to maintain set operating parameters.    

General Duties & Responsibilities:

- Provide immediate response to calls for assistance from guest’s rooms or BOH outlets.

- Supervises specialist contractors testing of systems identified by the Director of Engineering or his designee, in accordance with the standard.

- Tests water in cooling, heating, steam systems and pool systems, and applies correct chemical treatment dosage to maintain water condition within set parameters on a daily basis and per the shift checklists.

-Inspect all plant rooms, electrical compartments and service ducts under the control of the Engineering Department are secure and clean on a daily basis.

- Promotes, upholds and applies environmentally friendly practices to reduce, reuse and recycle.

- Calls and liaises with contractors regarding exact requirements as directed by the DOE.

- Ensure that all chemicals are stored and used safely and Safety Data Sheets are accessible to colleagues and up to date.

Expectations from you:

- Engineering Diploma/Trade qualifications with experience in the field

- Knowledge in Hotel Engineering Management and/or procedures

- Minimum of 2-3 years working experience in 5 star hotel engineering (mechanical or electrical services)

- Understanding of workplace practices in Work, Health and Safety

- Full time Australian working rights
