Project Manager - Maintenance Strategy Overhaul

We also provide clean, efficient electricity and gas to over one million customers - households and businesses - across the country through our retail energy business.

 

An opportunity has become available for a Project Manager  to join our high performing Asset and Engineering team to be responsible for the Maintenance Strategy Overhaul. The role will be based out of our head office in Cooma and is an initial 3 year contract opportunity.

 

The primary focus of this role is to plan and deliver the Maintenance Strategy Overhaul Project in accordance with approved business case, Snowy Hydro's Corporate Plan objectives, to maximize the value Snowy Hydro derives from its assets and contribute to the improvement of Snowy Hydro operations

 

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, you will be responsible for:

 

Project Management

 

  • Collaborate with Project Sponsor and all relevant stakeholders to confirm and agree on the scope, methodology and MSO objectives

  • Plan the MSO project with stakeholders including develop a project delivery strategy

  • Identify and assess potential risks to delivery of the project and devise appropriate risk control measures

  • Identify internal and external resources and procurement strategies required to deliver the project

 

Project team leadership and communication

 

  • Instruct internal and external project team resources on the work required, the risk controls to be applied and the quality measures to be verified

  • Identify project stakeholders; prepare and follow a communication plan conveying relevant information about the project

 

Project Delivery

 

  • Monitor and control the delivery of the project in accordance with the agreed project plans

  • Monitor and report on actual and forecast cost and timelines against agreed project baselines

  • Organise the production and execution of contracts within Snowy Hydro's procurement procedures and agreed project management plans

  • Consult with the Procurement team to prepare invitations to tender, evaluate offers received from suppliers, negotiate details of proposed contracts and recommend execution of contracts

  • Report on progress to Project Sponsor and project steering team

 

 What you'll need to be able to demonstrate to be our successful candidate:

 

  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to drive projects from planning to finalisation

  • Able  to negotiate with, manage and supervise external contractors and consultants

  • Engineering degree or similar qualification and/or industry experience

  • Able  to work with autonomy and responsibility; and to work effectively both at site and remotely from site

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, are critical to delivering successful project outcomes

  • Extensive change and stakeholder management experience

  • Sound knowledge of Quality, OH&S, EEO and Environmental policies, procedures and standards
