About the role

Reporting to the Project Director, the newly created role of Estimating Team Leader will manage a team of estimating specialists in providing reliable, consistent, timely, cost efficient and accurate estimating services within Active.  The Estimating Team Leader will be required to operate independently and across the business to represent the interests of the estimating team for projects.  The Estimating Team Leader is also responsible for working closely with other departments/functions within Active

The role demands strong leadership as the Estimating Team Leader is accountable for optimising performance of services, tasks and lead development of estimating practices & initiatives within Active.

As an Estimating Team Leader you will:

  • Execute monthly and weekly planning, execution and management of the estimating team.
  • Drive preferred suppliers and rate cards amongst team and ensure consistent estimating practices  
  • Implement, track & report on estimating initiatives, DIFOT, capacity of estimating resources
  • Meet DIFOT, while managing internal/external expectations and identify alternative estimate solutions
  • Regularly coach and mentor team members, supporting individuals to solve problems, create readiness for change and build capability
  • Proactively build and maintain effective relationships, working constructively with others to efficiently achieve required business outcomes within agreed timeframes
  • Review and report on past periods performance and adherence to agreed monthly KPI’s for the Week/Month/Quarter
  • Manage estimate reviews before finalisation and submission to ensure accuracy of the price and identify any anomalies that requires verification
  • Review project cost reports and analyse past performance on projects and working with the relevant project delivery team to review the projects at the project close-out for lessons learnt and to be fed back into the estimating system
  • Display leadership skills and manage pressure in a resilient and constructive way.

To be considered for the position of Estimating Team Leader you will be expected to have: 

  • Experience in developing, managing and executing estimates in print production, signage and hardware manufacturing is desirable yet not essential
  • Agility, flexibility and ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Minimum 5 years of Estimating, Commercial/Business Experience.
  • Proven experience in delivering multiple & simultaneous accurate estimates
  • Demonstrated leadership in building high performance teams and supporting development through continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build and maintain high trust, and collaborative working relationships across a wide range of disciplines at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, effective negotiation skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Proactive and organised nature with high attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure and manage competing demands
  • Must be highly proficient in estimating applications including Microsoft Project, Word and Excel. 

It is desirable that previous experience will have been gained within the print, retail/commercial shop fitting or signage industry and qualification/experience in Construction will put you ahead of other candidates.
