About the role:

Insitu Commercial operates a thriving Commercial Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) service business encompassing data collection, exploitation, distribution and the development of actionable information based products. Insitu Commercial is active in a number of focal areas globally working with major mining, oil & gas companies, government civil agencies including emergency responders and coast guards. As well as exploring new markets through an active research and development program with a number of global partners.

The Sales Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the Senior Sales Manager to identify new business opportunities within defined market segments and strategy, and then conducting the pursuit and securing of those opportunities and others as directed. The role also requires the preparation of bids and proposals, and assisting with the development of business strategy for the growth of Insitu Commercial with an emphasis on emerging market trends and new business models in the Commercial Remotely Piloted Aircraft System services and information management and supply market. The Sales Manager is responsible for assisting the Senior Sales Manager to ensure that business performance forecasts are properly defined and executed.

Although this role is based in Brisbane, it will include significant interstate and international travel.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Active participation in the alignment of Insitu Commercial’s Business objectives to the Company strategic direction.
  • Active management and execution of Insitu Commercial’s forecast business performance plan.
  • Contributes to business growth by identifying, growing and securing new business opportunities by engaging customers and other stakeholders and undertaking market shaping activities.
  • Formulates bids and proposals by coordinating various inputs providing networking and scheduling data and producing the total proposal.
  • Develops campaign strategies, customer contact and action plans, and provides formal briefings to senior management.
  • Assists with the development of overall business strategy by providing appropriate market data and up-to-date assessments of business opportunities.
  • Improves the profile of the business by maintaining contacts with existing and potential customers.
  • Contributes to the achievement of small programs by acting as program manager and providing commercial advice to line management.
  • Represents Insitu Commercial at trade shows, conferences and industry functions as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A minimum of three years of experience operating as a successful sales or business development professional in one or more disciplines within the commercial resources (Infrastructure, Mining, Oil, Gas, etc.), and/or Government civil sectors (Law enforcement /border security, Coastguard, etc) or as a professional working within those areas and being involved in process delivery, innovation and process improvement
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills with an ability to devise innovative and creative solutions to challenging scenarios.
  • The ability to identify and develop new networks and relationships, and to create new business opportunities within market segments new to Insitu Commercial.
  • A sound understanding of normal Government procurement processes and procedures with a particular focus on governments in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, work within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute at a high level within the organisation.
  • Proven, high calibre  ability to provide convincing presentations and demonstrations to customers to move the Sales cycle forward.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Personal alignment with Insitu Values.

Also desirable:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications.
  • Some experience or exposure to the application of RPAS based services to the commercial sectors.
  • An understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding the delivery of RPAS based services.
  • A sound understanding of project management concepts.
