Production Technician

The Wheatstone and Gorgon LNG facilities are two of Australia’s largest natural gas plants and will help position Chevron as a major liquified natural gas (LNG) operator in Australia and globally. Working on the front line will see you contribute to delivering crucial energy to the world.

Chevron Australia has a number of exciting opportunities for Production Technicians to join either the Gorgon or Wheatstone Operations teams. Reporting to the Production Coordinators, these permanent roles will be fly-in fly-out on a rotational 10-week roster (two weeks on, two weeks off, two weeks on, four weeks off).

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage routine operation of process, systems and equipment in a designated area
  • Follow routine procedures and initiate correct methods for developing non-routine procedures
  • Manage safe preparation and return to service of the plant for maintenance activities
  • Mange safe work including the issue of permits as an area authority under the permit to work system
  • Ensure plant integrity is maintained by vigilant monitoring of equipment in line with the commitments made as part of the safety case performance standards
  • Use the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to be able to initiate, plan and execute work
  • Work within the broader Operations team to ensure maintenance and production schedules are maintained
  • Validate operator routines and procedures and drive continuous improvement
  • Liaise with the Maintenance team and advise of any abnormal performance or potential failure of equipment
  • Maintain required competencies for the safe and efficient operation of plant
  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

 

Key skills and experience required:

 

  • Experience as a frontline production technician working within a complex hydrocarbons, gas or chemical processing facility
  • Certificate III or IV in Process Plant technology is desirable
  • Understanding of chemical and physical properties and hazards associated with hydrocarbon gases and liquids including utilities plants
  • Understanding of the function, mechanics and correct operation and maintenance of various production and utility equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills gained from previous experience solving operational issues
  • Awareness and understanding of the concepts of risk management and risk assessment tools
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills
  • A valid drivers’ license and eligible for a marine security identification card
  • Commitment to achieving incident free operations
