Sustainability Projects Officer

Woollahra Council is seeking to employ a Sustainability Projects Officer to join our busy Environment and Sustainability Team! 

As a Sustainability Projects Officer, you will report directly to the Team Leader of Environment & Sustainability. 

You will be responsible for the research, development and delivery of sustainability projects arising from Council's Environmental Sustainability Action Plan.

Your ability to build strong working relationships across the organisation and your passion for delivering excellent environmental programs will see you succeed in this challenging role.

This is a temporary part time position of 28 hours per week for a period of 6 months, with the potential opportunity for extension of contract. 

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in a sustainability or environmental field
  • Strong project management skills including tender preparation and experience managing environmental and sustainability projects from inception to completion.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental issues as they relate to local government.
  • Experience in environmental monitoring, auditing and evaluation, including managing water and energy data and greenhouse gas emissions reporting
  • Experience sourcing external funding and managing project budgets.
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyse technical data for environmental reporting and resource efficiency project development.
  • Computer skills in word processing, database management, spreadsheets and presentation programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and work with people from a variety of departments and levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing skills.
  • Class C drivers licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience managing environmental databases
  • Experience in local government
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement projects to successfully reduce energy and water use
