Assistant Commercial Manager

The Company

At Coca-Cola Amatil, you always know you’re part of something special and iconic. We are international in presence but local at heart. We are the faces that make our nations’ favourite beverages and food brands a reality. Firmly invested in our local economies and the communities we love, our focus is on building portfolios defined by relevance and choice.

Alcohol & Coffee

Alcohol & Coffee (A&C) is a growing business for today, and a big bet for the Amatil of tomorrow. Our strength is in part due to our diversity; our operations encompass brewing, distilling, roasting, marketing, selling and distributing. From our headquarters in Sydney, our operations extend across Australia and New Zealand, over the Pacific into Fiji and Samoa and now into Asia with the recent launch of our coffee business in Indonesia.

This diversity is no accident, it's who we've chosen to be. And much like the Amatil Group, our operations are run as individual divisions within Alcohol & Coffee, defined by geography or product type, and united by a One Amatil Vision and Values and our Alcohol & Coffee Identity and Charter.

To deliver on our strategy, the Finance team is responsible for continuing to support our business and our people and grow our organisation.

As trusted business advisors, the Finance team works together with our customers, brand partners and internal stakeholders to deliver on our shareholder value proposition and our $100m EBIT ambition by 2020. We create value everyday by responding to our customers, enhancing our relationships with our brand partners and building on our strengths to deliver best-in-class insights and financial decision support in Australia.  Through our strong capability we provide outstanding governance, transactional excellence and maximised asset returns to deliver our strategy and win with pride.  Our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation enables us to deliver simple and effective solutions.

The Role

We are currently seeking an Assistant Commercial Manager to join the Alcohol & Coffee Finance Team based in Fairfield, VIC.

Working directly within the Coffee business, you will report through to the Head of Finance for Coffee and will be responsible for providing commercial finance support across a range of departments and functions within our Coffee business.

This is an exceptional opportunity within a highly visible and growing part of our business, dealing with a breadth of senior stakeholders.  The role provides cross functional experience across Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Finance. As a result, the role would suit a proactive, driven and passionate individual who enjoys providing insightful input into the future direction of our company. Working closely with the Heads of Finance, Sales and Supply Chain the key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Business partnering with State and National Sales teams
  • Ownership of performance reporting & planning
  • P&L and balance sheet management
    • Analysis & review, providing recommendations and actions
  • Partnering with marketing and State and National Sales teams to:
    • Help manage customer pricing and tender negotiations
    • Deliver commercial analysis, insights and decision support to enhance customer value proposition and promotional activities
  • Collaborating across the A&C Finance team to help deliver division wide initiatives and projects
  • Emerging projects which provide continual improvements to benefit the business
  • Ad-hoc projects and queries

    About You

The successful candidate will have a breadth of experience that has developed their strategic thinking, value-add focus and ability to provide insightful information.

In addition, you will be:

  • Curious by nature, proactively looking for answers and challenging the status quo
  • High level of Financial and Business Acumen to build fact-based commercial decisions; deep understanding of managing the P&L, indirect costs and forecasting
  • Exceptional ability to manage, influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels and develop credible relationships internally and externally
  • P&L and balance sheet management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Organisational & planning skills

The Benefits

Some of our Amatil only perks include corporate discounts, exciting experiences and staff sampling programs (where you can choose from a variety of alcoholic, non-alcoholic and coffee products to enjoy with yourself and with friends and family).
