Horticultural Worker

Smart Berries is a grower, distributor and marketer of premium quality blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. With a farm and grower network across Australia, we have a passion for innovation and produce high quality berries for domestic and international markets.

We're currently looking for a passionate Horticultural Worker to join our Crows Nest team. For the right person this job could lead to an exciting future in the industry with a dynamic and rapidly growing company.

Working closely with the Farm Manager, this is a hands on position with you performing a variety of tasks across the season. The primary focus will be:

  • plant health across the crop
  • pest and disease monitoring
  • assisting with irrigation and fertigation
  • soil and water sampling and testing
  • record keeping
  • assisting with a wide variety of tasks to maintain the farm, including planting, trellising, spraying among other tasks.
To be successful in this role you require the following
  • a strong passion for agronomy and farming
  • experience identifying plant diseases and pests
  • good communication skills
  • ability to solve problems
  • experience in a similar position
  • a willingness to perform a variety of tasks
  • A certificate III or above in a relevant field, such as Agriculture, Horticulture or Agronomy (desirable only)
  • Previous experience working with blueberries or raspberries (desirable only)
