School Counsellor

As one of Queensland's leading independent schools, catering for boys from Prep to Year 12 through the outstanding education offered to day and boarding students, we have developed innovative approaches to address the specific learning needs of boys. Offering an inspiring, modern and technologically rich learning environment to its nearly 1000 students (including 140 Boarding Students), the school has an enviable reputation for intellectual leadership and academic achievement.

 

Reporting directly to the Deputy Headmaster, the successful applicant will be responsible for the pastoral care for our students (P-12) including support for their emotional, social and educational needs. The School Counsellor's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting students through personal and careers counselling;
  • Mediation with students, staff and parents when necessary;
  • Supporting members of staff in their relationships with students;
  • Assisting staff by facilitating appropriate referrals to outside practitioners for personal counselling; and
  • Providing guidance to both students and parents in relation to academic pathways and careers options.
