Area Manager - Whyalla Region

Position Summary:

In order to meet the current demands and predicted future growth of our business, Boral Construction Materials is seeking an experienced generalist manager to join the SA leadership team as an Area Manager in the Iron Triangle region.

Based in Whyalla and reporting to the General Manager South Australia, you will have operational responsibility for concrete and quarry sites in Whyalla and Port Augusta.   You will also play a key role in establishing new business and maximising sales opportunities for the region.

Key Duties:

  • Drive a Zero Harm culture to ensure that Boral operational sites meet all safety, environmental and legislative requirements;
  • Drive stakeholder engagement with the local community, customers, employees and regulators;
  • Support operations in delivering major revenue projects including procuring resources;
  • Support operations in delivering capital projects and upgrades;
  • Provide analytical and planning support for operations;
  • Support continuous improvement activities across the business;
  • Prepare proposals for major customers for the purpose of maintaining existing accounts and securing new business;
  • Manage contractual aspects of tenders and price submissions to ensure risk is mitigated and opportunities identified;
  • Undertake market intelligence on customers, competitors and industry; and
  • Identify and implement growth strategies.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • A strong business acumen and previous experience of industry processes, account management processes and sales management tools;
  • Experience in the construction materials, civil engineering or building sectors;
  • A professional, energetic and enthusiastic approach backed up by hands on experience in a similar role or industry;
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and negotiating skills;
  • Strong people skills including proven ability to lead and influence people;
  • Ability to quickly analyse, assess and price/mitigate contractual risk;
  • Ability to manage and develop customer relationships;
  • Personal drive and results orientation; and
  • A valid driver’s licence.
