An exciting opportunity is available at the largest book publisher in Australia, Penguin Random House, for a Publicity Officer in the Young Readers team based in Sydney.

We are seeking a creative, highly motivated, media-savvy individual with a passion for children’s and young adult books. This role is responsible for providing highly organised and timely administrative support to the Young Readers publicity team, administering queries with speed and discretion and handling internal and external communications. The role will also include joining authors on publicity tours and producing publicity campaigns for a number of books.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • One to two years’ experience in publicity or in a related administration role. Whilst experience in the book publishing industry is not essential it would be a definite advantage.
  • A current driver’s license.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and polished communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A demonstrated ability for administrative support, and confidence and experience working on multiple projects and tasks as part of a vibrant, enthusiastic team.
  • An eye for detail coupled with the ability to initiate action and manage work effectively in a deadline driven environment.
  • The ability to think ‘outside the box’ and approach campaigns creatively and with innovation, and a working knowledge of the Australian media.
  • Proficiency using Adobe InDesign and the Microsoft suite of office products including Outlook, Excel and Word
