Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Mathematics Education

The role

Deakin’s School of Education is a leading provider of primary and secondary teacher education, early childhood educator preparation, educational leadership and adult, vocational and applied learning education. The School has a vibrant teaching and research culture and is involved in a number of ARC funded projects.

The Senior Lecturer / Lecturer will be required to teach mathematics education in the school's undergraduate or postgraduate programs. They will work collaboratively with members of the mathematics education team to achieve its research and teaching goals.

This is a full time ongoing role based at Burwood Campus.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • a teaching qualification, including demonstrated experience in secondary mathematics education
  • PhD in mathematics education or other relevant education discipline
  • demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics in secondary education
  • excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in mathematics education in UG and/ or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and Higher degree by research supervision
  • nationally recognised research reputation underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or success in obtaining external research grants
  • positive engagement with research, community, and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • publish high quality research in national journals of high repute
  • provide an excellent contribution to the School’s teaching and research programs
  • enhance the quality of teaching and learning, including identifying and responding to opportunities to advance the discipline
  • develop strong relationships with research, community, industry and government for enhanced teaching and research outcomes
  • contribute to the development of the Schools research agenda, including in competitive external research funding activities and performance in ERA
