From running small and large-scale events and securing sponsorship to acquiring, supporting and servicing members this is a role that has diversity, richness and impact.
You will lead the Chamber activities to drive the economic and social growth of Double Bay and broader community delivering on the goals:
1. The Destination
Make and retain the commercial centres and the district community as a leading economic and social area in the Sydney metropolitan region
2. The Organisation
Develop a strong and sustainable Business Chamber that serves its members and the community, so it is known as a leading business and community organisation in the Sydney metropolitan region.
Key aspects of the role include developing and delivering business and community events, identifying and securing sponsors, building the membership across the District, marketing and communicating Chamber activities and liaising with key stakeholders, suppliers and service providers.
The CEO reports to the Board of the Chamber through the Chair and casual staff engaged on an as need basis, report to the CEO.
You will be someone passionate about the local community and ensuring businesses thrive.
You will be a self-starter and organizer who takes initiative. You will have strong networks across business and the community with an ability to connect businesses with opportunities and confidence using digital platforms. You will have a personable approach, understand the challenges and issues facing small business and be able to develop and manage relationships with local government representatives, tenants, business and land owners.
You have a diverse background so that you understand sales and marketing and are also able to develop and manage a budget.
- Minimum five years event management experience
- History of success in securing sponsorships and partnerships for events, organisations, products
- Good Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good experience with Mailchimp, Wix, GSuite, Survey Monkey, social media platforms
- Good experience with Xero accounts package
In 2017 after a long and successful history, the Double Bay Chamber of Commerce was transformed to become the Double Bay and Districts Business Chamber and trades under the name Sydney East Business Chamber.
A not for profit public company limited by guarantee, the Sydney East Business Chamber is a leading business organisation in Sydney’s East.
We support, promote and champion our premier business and community by providing quality advice, education, networking, destination events and marketing promotion and advocacy.
The Chamber has six key performance areas:
Events: conducts a range of small and large-scale business and community events to attract foot traffic to the District
Marketing: conducts marketing campaigns to promote activities and businesses in the District locally, nationally and internationally
Amenity: supports and advocates for quality public areas, access to services and issues that impact business and the community
Membership: creates opportunities for members to share and build knowledge, expertise and resources, and to develop productive business relationships
Relationships: builds, promotes and maintains co-operation, collaboration and close relations with like-minded organisations, government and partners
Financial: manages a financially strong and sustainable organisation based on diversity of revenue, operational efficiency, innovation and good governance
- A permanent part-time, 30 hours per week, position with potential for full time
- A pro rata salary of $80,000 per annum
