Data Protection and Compliance Officer

We have recently expanded into the UK market,   building on our strong presence in Australia and US through being awarded a number of significant government contracts, and a number of strategic acquisitions. About the opportunity:

This position is newly created and will work independently to build and manage FTR/Auscript’s privacy and compliance programs across the business’ offices in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In particular, as the statutory Data Protection Officer (DPO) in the EU, you will work with key internal stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain a privacy governance framework, which complies with GDPR and other relevant legislation.

Role outcomes:

In relation to the role of Data Protection Officer:

  • Investigate and make recommendations to the Cyber Leadership team in relation to potential data breaches.
  • Work with the Company’s lawyers and subject matter experts across the business, and where necessary, outside legal advisors to help advise on local data privacy laws.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders in the review of projects and related data to ensure compliance with data privacy laws, and where necessary, advise on a monitoring data protection.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and liaison with regulatory authorities on all data protection related matters under the GDPR and relevant legislation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection queries in the business.
  • Participate in the GDPR Committee.
  • Ensure filing and fee requirements with local regulators are achieved.

In relation to the role of Compliance Officer:

  • Work with key internal stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain a compliance framework, to ensure that FTR/Auscript is conducting its business in compliance with all relevant laws, while meeting its business goals.
  • Proactively audit processes practices and documents.
  • Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk.
  • Develop compliance programs, review company policies and advise management on possible risk. 
  • Educate and train employees.

 

To be successful in this position you must have:

 

  • Strong knowledge of EU data protection laws regulation, and a good understanding of other major privacy frameworks in the jurisdictions where FTR/Auscript carries on business.
  • Strong knowledge of legal requirements and controls. Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
  • Sufficient knowledge of information technology and data management systems.
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the business.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage time well, prioritise effectively and handle multiple deadlines
  • Some international travel may be required.
