Senior UX Manager (Aconex)

  • Senior UX Manager

Join an amazing team working to support the people who build our world. While the construction and engineering industry has traditionally been slow to adopt new technology, the sector is currently undertaking an incredible transformation that affects us all. Accounting for 6% of global GDP, the construction and engineering industry employs over 100 million people and tackles social, climate and energy challenges on a global scale. Construction & Engineering projects provide a complex problem-space, loaded with wicked problems, where small improvements have big impact.

The mission of the Oracle Construction & Engineering business unit is to transform the world by helping teams plan, build and operate critical assets. We want to change how project teams work together, making the process fairer, more efficient and easier for everyone. We want to improve the lives of people working on projects, helping them to deliver higher quality assets more efficiently and still get home to their families on time.

The Role

We are looking for a leader to take our user experience design and research practice to the next level. In this role you will take charge of a team of passionate user experience designers joining other team leaders across our global business unit.

You’ll be mentoring your team in a supportive way that helps drive peak performance.

We need someone who’s always looking at the broader organization around them, planning and driving initiatives that help empower the organization as a whole. Bringing user centricity to everything we do.

We’re on a journey from seeing feature delivery as our means of success to user value and adoption. We want you to help take us there. You will:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional product leadership team to put user needs at the centre of everything we do.
  • Help the people you work with grow by leading as an example, supporting their design and research work directly on projects that you are involved in, and mentoring to grow individuals to their full potential.
  • Provide direction and vision for evolving the role of user centred design, identifying opportunities to increase impact and demonstrate value.
  • Look beyond the team you work with and reaching out to other parts of the organization in order to build influential relationships.

Essential Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • 7+ years of demonstrable industry experience in User Experience design and research.
  • 3+ years managing a team of 4+ individual contributors.
  • Demonstrated ability to align and inspire team members to product priorities and business goals.
  • Highly collaborative, with a proven track record for working closely across lines of business to influence outcomes and propose new directions.
  • Strong sense of independence, ownership, and initiative. Ability to self-direct and manage what to work on, how to get it done, and when to deliver.
  • Able to establish new repeatable patterns and processes and lead others through the change.
  • Able to lead and delegate appropriately, ensure initiatives on track and keep stakeholders well informed.
  • BA/BS degree in Design, HCI, CS or related field, or equivalent practical experience, or equivalent industry specific experience.
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced organization.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and presentation skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with storyboarding, customer journey mapping or service design.
  • Knowledge of the construction and engineering industry.
