We are a team of 130+ employees based in a great Sydney CBD location close to various forms of public transport.  We have a collaborative, friendly and professional working environment where we encourage self-growth and career development.

Standards Australia has deployed a range of tools in an XML based workflow and we are looking for a Publishing Technology Specialist to join our Publishing Services team to help identify efficiencies and improvements in the way that we work.

The Publishing Technology Specialist’s primary responsibility is to enhance the adoption of new publishing processes and tools working with technology suppliers across the globe.  This role will be involved in reviewing new methods of content delivery to end users and requires a clear methodical approach to ensure that the complications of our publications function well and deliver a premium user experience for the end users.

Key responsibilities

  • Document requirements for relevant extensions of the publishing tools
  • Test software upgrades, including development of testing tools and data

  • Train and support team members in new features and functionality

Participate in the review, development and deployment cycle for new online publishing technologies:

  • Assist in requirements gathering and building test data
  • Actively participate in Proof of Concept projects
  • Test and provide feedback to software suppliers for new technologies

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have high attention to detail in editorial tasks, systems testing and bug logging and resolution.  In addition, they will be a strong communicator with the ability to write procedures and train other team members on how to use our tools in optimal ways.

Minimum education/professional requirements

  • A degree or qualification in editing and publishing
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical publishing editorial environment using XML
  • Experience in technology projects requiring trouble shooting, testing, bug logging and working with technology partners to resolve issues
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word including ability to manage and maintain Word Styles, templates and MS Equation Editor or MathType.

Working for Standards Australia

Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect and Excellence form the basis of all we do.  We measure our success not only on the outcomes but on the path we took to get there.  We offer a flexible and positive environment where individual and team efforts are recognised and rewarded.  The company is committed to a workplace which supports equal employment opportunities.
