The Royal Sydney Golf Club is a private prestigious members club which was founded in 1893. It is recognised nationally and internationally for its world class facilities which include two golf courses, 17 tennis courts, bowling greens, croquet lawns, a squash court, a gym, two pools, several cafés, a fine dining restaurant, accommodation rooms and multiple function rooms.

The Role

Royal Sydney's Archive is the repository for its history. The preservation and maintenance of all documents and artefacts contained in the Archive, and accurate updating with future acquisitions, is a vital part of the Club's existence. Royal Sydney seeks a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic part-time Archivist, with impeccable attention to detail, to take on this important role in the Club. The successful candidate will work both independently and closely with Members of the Heritage Sub- Committee, to fulfil this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Gathering knowledge of Royal Sydney's history, and activities past and present
  • Researching data to assist Club research activities
  • Working with records management software, and advising on possible updates
  • Liaison with other Club departments, and occasionally the general public, to provide information.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualifications in information management, or demonstrable experience within the field
  • The ability to prioritise workload, and be decisive
  • Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise with other departments in the Club
  • The ability to write clearly and accurately
  • An interest in sporting history is desirable, but not crucial, although a willingness to learn would be considered important
