To support our growth and ensure the ongoing success of our business, we are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to coordinate and manage our entire payroll function.

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this challenging and rewarding role will include:

  • leading our payroll function.
  • ensuring our payroll systems are fully operational at key processing and reporting times.
  • transforming our payroll function whilst in the interim:
    • processing and paying the wages for 1,000 employees via Chris21 in an accurate and timely manner.
    • processing employee entitlements and wage subsidies.
    • updating/maintaining all employee information on Chris21 Maintenance, including new staters, changes to salaries, pay rates, and contracts, as well as updating skills and licences.
    • Maintaining the Chris 21 database.
  • managing payroll queries through JIRA Helpdesk.
  • completing Payroll Tax, Superannuation, Union, Child Support Agency and WorkCover payments, as well as WorkCover reimbursements.
  • completing Single Touch Payroll Processing.
  • completing End of Month and End of Year Processing as well as internal and external Reporting/Transactions.
  • liaising with external entities such as Fair Work Australia, Australian Taxation Office and Superannuation Funds.
  • meeting government, statutory and legislative compliance.

Skills and Experience

This role requires an individual who is highly resilient, motivated and organised, with the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.  Applicants must have:

  • experience in processing payroll for 1,000 employees or more.
  • exposure to Chris21 and familiar with Chris21 report designer (preferred).
  • high level knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Enterprise Agreements, Long Service Leave Legislation, wage subsidies/supported wages, Parental Leave and Jury Duty.
  • ability to calculate and process Payroll Tax, WorkCover, termination and redundancy payments.
  • familiarity with Time and Attendance systems.
  • experience in ad-hoc reporting.
  • intermediate – advanced experience with Excel, and a good understanding of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • problem solving and creative thinking capabilities to deliver business solutions.
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Along with the above, it is essential that you are able to:

  • effectively liaise and communicate with management and staff to keep people informed of activities, deadlines and progress,
  • actively encourage and facilitate a positive, co-operative team approach,
  • encourage new innovative ideas,
  • influence others, build rapport and make positive change,
  • work autonomously and take initiative,
  • problem solve,
  • cope with changing work demands in a fast changing environment, and
  • have fun!!

In all aspects of this role, you will require the ability to develop, adapt and take responsibility for your work.  This position will suit a confident individual with the ability to foster positive working relationships with Stores, Retail Operations, the Warehouse and Store Support Departments
