The Role 

We are seeking a Bookings Officer to join our Patient Services team at Epworth Hawthorn for a casual role.

In this role, you will liaise closely with doctors, secretaries, and patients. Duties will include processing of bookings for elective surgery, conducting health fund eligibility checks, admitting and discharging of patients, responding promptly to enquiries and requests, handling patient accounts, compiling estimates and general administrative duties, including data entry.

The Patient Services Centre is open Monday to Saturday from 6.00 am to 7.30 pm.  The successful applicant must be flexible to work across the various shifts.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to prioritise in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ability to cope under pressure and make informed decisions according to hospital needs

Previous administration experience in the healthcare sector and knowledge and use of iPM computer system is desired.
