Buyer Assistant

Cheap as Chips is an Australian retail success story.  We are a leading discount variety retailer with 42 large format stores throughout South Australia, regional Victoria and NSW. To support our growth and ensure the ongoing success of our business, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer Assistant to join our team.  In this role, you will provide support to our Buyers to complete the footwork, research, evaluation and negotiation for appropriate products which appeals to our customer base and positions Cheap as Chips as a competitive, unique, exciting and fun place to shop.

 

Key responsibilities of this challenging and rewarding role will include:

  • Planning and ordering approved ranges of core range products within set open to buy budgets.
  • Assisting Buyers with range reviews.
  • Executing and updating the Buyers promotional calendar.
  • Monitoring the estimated time of arrival for promotional product.
  • Managing product maintenance in system.
  • Completing daily communication to store operations, as approved by Buyer.
  • Following up shipping queries.
  • Following up compliance and use by date stock issues, and reporting back to Buyer.
  • Managing and following up approved Buyer markdowns.

 

Skills and experience

This role requires an individual who is highly-motivated and resilient.  Applicants must have:

  • Experience in product planning and purchasing.
  • An eye for detail and an analytical mind.
  • Relentless in your pursuit of the best outcome.
  • Able to liaise and communicate across all working relationships to keep people informed of activities, deadlines and progress.
  • Experience in working with teams, problem solving and creative thinking to deliver business solutions.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to sell change.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office suite as well as the ability to pick up new IT systems quickly.
