Full or Part Time Parental Leave Relief – Fixed Term Contract

(Approximately 9-12 month’s duration commencing May 2019) 

The Hospital 

The 151 bed private hospital operated by Australia's largest private hospital operator, Ramsay Health Care, is set in the heart of Wollongong's Medical Precinct adjacent to the Wollongong Public Hospital. It features state of the art equipment, facilities and patient services setting a benchmark for healthcare facilities in the Illawarra. Wollongong Private Hospital includes all major services including an intensive care unit, nine operating theatres, a cardiac catheter laboratory, a day oncology unit and a stand-alone day surgical centre.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced, service focused and team orientated staff member to work as a Theatre Bookings Clerk and be responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Liaising with third parties, communicating theatre and medical bookings including Visiting Medical Officers and their secretary’s where applicable
  • Scheduling and updating patient data into relevant databases
  • Processing admission request forms
  • Performing administration functions as directed 

The successful applicant must meet the following selection criteria 

  • Be highly committed to providing excellent service outcomes for all patients, doctors and visitors
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain good working relations with others
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy when booking patients and performing administrative functions
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision 

Desirable: 

  • Medical Terminology
  • Previous experience with patient management systems in a health care environment
