Senior Communications Officer

Hope & Glory is delighted to be working with a community focused government organisation in their search for an experienced Senior Communications Officer to join their Communications & Engagement division. This is a permanent, full time position located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and is an exciting opportunity for a savvy communications and media allrounder.  

You will undertake a range of activities including (but not limited to):
  • Oversee a team of two (2) communications / marketing practitioners
  • Develop overarching strategic communications plans
  • Identify and pursue proactive media and publicity opportunities
  • Develop and execute internal communications initiatives
  • Provide accurate and strategic advice to the senior leadership group
  • Provide communications support to a range of major projects being undertaken across the business.
To be considered for this role, your application likely shows the following:
  • Diverse experience across media relations, communications, issues management and community relations
  • A solid understanding of government and the issues it faces
  • A strong awareness of the social, political and business landscape
  • Excellent understanding of the media and the news cycle 
  • Strong people leadership experience with the ability to support and empower a team
  • Sharp writing skills and the ability to craft content for a range of audiences, including digital channels
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing positive stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally
  • A flexible, adaptable and resilient attitude
  • The ability to work in a complex, fast-paced operating environment
  • Relevant degree qualifications in journalism, public relations, communications and/or substantial experience in a similar role.
