About the Role

Are you a Technical Support Analyst committed to providing an exemplary level of customer service? Then read on!

 

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s desktop/laptop, application, infrastructure and mobiles to all business users. The Desktop Support Officer installs and configures computer systems, diagnoses hardware and software faults and solves technical and application problems, and works in the many projects throughout the LHD.

 

Central to the position will be the passion for learning new skills and broadening your knowledge of technologies. You must have a can-do attitude, excellent attention to detail, be a strong communicator at all levels and have a calm attitude with the ability to thrive within a team environment. Your ability to take ownership of work you are tasked with is a key quality essential for this role. You will need to be technically minded and have the ability to think outside the square.

 

Reporting to the ICT Infrastructure Manager for Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, (NBMLHD) this exciting opportunity exists to work in a team of professionals across the diversified world of NSW Health ICT.  This is currently a two year position with future extensions possible due to the recently announced redevelopment of Nepean Hospital, along with the many new initiatives across the LHD. 

 

This is a great opportunity to join a fast growing, new ICT team who strive to offer and support the latest in ICT technology.

 

The Desktop Support Officer will provide front-line primary technical support to end users on various technical issues and problems relating to hardware, software and peripherals. They will also be responsible for responding to, documenting and resolving service tickets in a timely manner according to SLA. The Desktop Support Officer must have excellent problem solving skills in order to diagnose, evaluate and resolve complex problem situations, or when appropriate, escalate or route them to appropriate ICT staff members. 


The Desktop Support Officer will also perform root cause analysis, develop checklists for typical problems and recommend procedures and controls for problem prevention. This position will support multiple platforms including desktops, laptops, mobile devices and videoconferencing equipment. This position may require independent work, sharing information and assisting others with work orders along with being the subject matter expert in multiple LHD projects

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  1. Demonstrated ability as a multi-skilled ICT Support Officer in a highly diverse team along with the ability to be self-motivated and work in an unsupervised environment as an independent, self-managed ICT Support Officer
  2. Demonstrated approach to ensuring relevant and up to date working knowledge of IT industry trends and services
  3. Detailed knowledge of MS applications and solid proven AD experience
  4. High-Level detailed knowledge of PC hardware operations, mobile workforce configuration and hardware troubleshooting techniques.
  5. Proven ability to take ownership of all assigned calls and work through all issues keeping focussed on the customer at all times ensuring regular updates whilst knowing when to ask for support to resolve calls
  6. Demonstrated 3+ years working in ICT support roles and advanced knowledge of local area networking and file server configuration
  7. Proven ability to support a variety of users with divergent needs and skill levels. Translate user needs into viable solutions, work independently and as part of a project team, work collaboratively to make necessary decisions and respond to emergency situations effectively
  8. Demonstrated approach to communicate technical and complex information in verbal and written form, accurately troubleshoot and diagnose technology issues in a complex networked environment, identify trends and make suggestions for technical modifications to resolve existing and future problems
