The Sleep team is helping to fuel ResMed’s growth by focusing on solutions (products + software + services) to improve the quality of life for patients with sleep-disordered breathing and help providers improve efficiencies and reduce their costs. Let’s talk about the team:

The Product Development team in Sydney provides products for the global market. This team is integral to the development of the business and operates cross-functionally to provide products that meet the market requirements while ensuring that best practice manufacturing can be achieved in a cost-effective way.

Let’s talk about the role:

The Mechanical Engineer will operate within a project team and will be tasked with the responsibility to design, develop and verify new products from concept through to production in the most cost and time efficient manner whilst operating within ResMed Quality Standards.

Let’s talk about the responsibilities:

  • Work within the ResMed Quality system, standards and maintain training requirements.
  • Work within regulatory requirements such as the FDA.
  • Mature approach to design with due consideration to requirements relating to marketing needs, the needs of our patients and customers, human factors / useability, patient therapy performance requirements, environmental factors and design for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Operate with a high level of individuality whilst interacting effectively with, and seeking input from team members and other areas of the business including marketing, manufacturing, clinical and regulatory affairs to ensure the products being developed are appropriate and satisfy all necessary requirements
  • Self-management of tasks by the individual and directed by the Manager
  • Assess, and communicate effectively, the impact of issues with internal customers.
  • Research, design, and development of products for manufacture.
  • Testing, verification and validation of designed products to ensure they meet the necessary requirements and specifications under anticipated usage scenarios and operating conditions.
  • Develop test/measurement capabilities according to need.
  • Liaise with internal customers and suppliers in relation to design issues.

Let’s talk qualifications and experience:

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Engineering – Mechanical, Biomedical, Mechatronics, or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ engineering experience in a product development

As a Mechanical Engineer, we expect that you are innovative and has a proven cost-effective approach to achieving market guidance through technical advances. You will bring into ResMed your knowledge and experience in integrating mechanical components / systems into overall product design coupled with the reasonable and systematic approach to problem solving.

You operate with a high level of self-sufficiency whilst interacting effectively with, and seeking input from team members. You are expected to work well with the members from other teams within ResMed including marketing, manufacturing, clinical and regulatory affairs and to liaise with external contractors and suppliers.

You will have demonstrable experience with 3D CAD preferably moderate to high proficiency in Pro-E (Creo), proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook and excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
