Cane Rail Maintenance Worker - Tamper Operator

This is a full time, permanent position located at our Mulgrave Mill (Gordonvale) site, approximately 20km south of Cairns.

Reporting to the Work Execution Superintendent – Cane Rail, the Maintenance Workers, work as part of a team to complete the maintenance of rail road lines, bridges and drainage to ensure they are safe for locomotives to operate on. During the cane crushing season workers complete repairs and maintenance work around the locomotives however during the maintenance season major maintenance works are completed.  In this role you will spend a majority of your time operating the Plasser Tamper to realign rail lines however you will be required to complete other maintenance tasks on the rail infrastructure from time to time.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

Essential:

  • A current Driver's Licence
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Experience operating a Plasser KMX-06
  • Experience operating a variety of machinery such as, backhoe, crane, loader, forklift, excavator
  • Working at Heights

Desirable:

  • Traffic Control Ticket
  • Chemical Accreditation Ticket
  • MR/ HR Drivers Licence
  • Chainsaw Ticket

As our operations are continuous 24/ 7, during the Cane Crushing Season, this position involves weekend and callout work. Before submitting your application, you will need to ensure you are available for this type of work.
