Mechanical Engineer

The opportunity

We are looking for a knowledgeable, results-driven, dynamic Mechanical Engineer based in Cardiff. 

This role will play a key part in multiple projects along with an established senior team. The primary function of this position is to design and model mechanical and structural components. You will also be exposed to a variety of world class and cutting-edge projects with opportunity of involvement in pump component design and being involved in R&D projects.  

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer Lead, your responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical design of new products, and modification to current designs using Solidworks
  • Actioning feedback on design, manufacturability, process consistency, prototypes and bill of materials (design review)
  • DFMEA creation 
  • Assist in reviewing the current standard product range and seek manufacturing and design improvements
  • Participate in research and development projects
  • Support the quality team in the assessment of product and component related issues
  • Participate in the preparation and issue of engineering documentation for manufacture
  • Accurate record and file keeping

What you must have

  • High energy, tenacious attitude and a drive to succeed
  • Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering 
  • Solid experience solving complex engineering problems (7+ years) and applying engineering knowledge in designing structural components
  • Solid expertise in a relevant and related industry to ensure you meet our customers technical and commercial needs
  • Advanced CAD skills
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to express complex solutions in clear language
  • Be comfortable using a computer including other systems such as MS office 
  • An ability to learn quickly, think on your feet and be flexible

What would be nice for you to have (but still apply if you tick off the must have list)

  • Solidworks PDM experience
  • Demonstrated experience working on multiple high value projects 
  • Direct experience within a manufacturing / assembly environment with a focus on continuous improvement
