Casual Community Coaches


Melbourne United Basketball Club is one of Australia's premier sporting brands with a rich history dating back to the 1930's. Throughout its history, the club has been a dominant force in the development of Australian basketball. 

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and passionate Community Coaches to join our team on a Casual basis. 

The Community Coach will be responsible for engaging with children through camps and clinics to improve their basketball skills and knowledge, whilst actively increasing awareness and engagement with the club. This role requires high energy, basketball knowledge, a positive nature, and strong understanding of how to engage the community.

Your duties will include:
  • Improve skills and knowledge of the game by seamlessly executing basketball programs in the community.
  • Assess the level of play of individuals participating in the clinics to plan programs and activities accordingly.
  • Motivate participants by creating an engaging and exciting environment.
  • Use effective group management skills to lead programs, creating and maintaining an inclusive, fun environment.
  • Actively promote Melbourne United to the community to increase engagement and awareness of the club.
  • Appropriately handle any incidents and report on them accordingly to ensure safety remains a priority at all times.
  • Maintain adherence to Melbourne United's Child Safety Policy.
To be considered for this role, you will possess:
  • Basketball Coaching Accreditation desired
  • Valid Working with Children's Check
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Availability on School Holidays and as required by the club from time to time
  • Passion and understanding of basketball and the club
  • High energy with a positive nature
  • Ability to engage effectively with children
