About the business and the role

Westgarth Primary School is a vibrant school community located in the inner city suburb of Northcote. Our focus is on providing an engaging and differentiated curriculum to our 630 students. Our staff comprises three principal class officers, two leading teachers, 28 classroom teachers, eight specialist teachers covering five learning areas, seven education support staff and a part-time first aid officer. 

Hours of work.

The position is for 5 days per week Monday to Friday during school terms. Hours: 9.15am to 3.15pm (negotiable) Paid recall days as negotiated. Start Date: 15/07/2019 End Date: 20/12/2019

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Coordinate administrative services within the school, including implementing strategies to ensure effective administration procedures.

In consultation with the principal and the office manager, determine and manage work priorities within the school office.

Maintain the school's records system, including student records, attendances and staff and school records.

Manage the school's reception area, phone calls and matters arising, make appointments and field enquiries.

Liaise with and support school staff with administrative tasks.     

Maintain, enter and retrieve data from the schools computer system.

Prepare correspondence according to school procedures.

Prepare and publish communication between the school and families – the school newsletter and other publications, including electronic apps.

Receive enrolment documentation and record data.

Assist with the management of the school's student reporting package.

Undertake other organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.

Assist in the maintenance of the school website

Assist in First Aid duties as required

Ordering of office and staffroom supplies

Count money, record and prepare banking documentation.

 

Skills and experience

High level of computer skills and experience in electronic apps and computer systems.
