The Organisation

Gowrie Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1939, committed to our purpose to champion good early childhood education and care. Due to internal movement we are recruiting for two full time Assistant Room Leaders - one at our Docklands service and the other at Carlton North. 

The Role

You will support your Room Leader in leading and coaching a team of educators in providing high quality ECEC in line with approved frameworks. The successful candidate will:

  • Drive pedagogical practices that are aligned to Gowrie’s philosophy, purpose and values
  • Develop and implement an educational program responsive to the interests, strengths and needs of children
  • Complete accurate written documentation that supports practice and compliance requirements
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and the broader community
  • Participate in professional learning

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma (minimum) in ECEC or equivalent and have:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an educator (preferred)
  • Demonstrated competency to lead and coach a team, and/or a willingness to engage in professional learning to further develop leadership skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NQF and approved frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to implement programs that are inclusive and respond to the interests, strengths and learning needs of  individual children
  • Proven ability to engage in critical reflection of performance and practice.
