Business Development Manager

Leo Cussen Centre for Law is a leading education and training organisation providing practical legal training (PLT) to law graduates and continuing professional development programs (CPD) to practising lawyers and other professionals.

Building on existing high-quality programs and courses and reaching new markets, we are expanding delivery of our services into the legal education market on a national basis.  Our strategic move to new premises with cutting edge technology and State of the Art facilities enables a range of exciting new programs and services to be offered to the rapidly changing legal education and corporate training markets.

About the role
This new role will help to identify and secure new business for our PLT and CPD business units and expand our Corporate Training Division.

We are developing our service offering to meet emerging needs by expanding existing services and adding new services on a national and potentially international scale.  

The purpose of this new role is to identify and secure new business for Leo Cussen as a quality training provider, while supporting the growth ambitions of PLT, CPD and the Corporate Training Division.

About you
This role will suit a lawyer with business development experience, a business development manager with legal experience or a legal practice manager with business development experience.

Ideally you will also have relevant experience within the tertiary education and professional development sector and be comfortable developing business opportunities with existing and new clients.  You are highly motivated with drive and determination to identify and win new business. You understand the training needs of the legal sector, including new graduate lawyers and can identify legal training needs in the corporate sector.

We are looking for someone who meets the following criteria:

  • A degree qualification within Business Development, Law or Practice Management and 5+ years’ experience in legal business development
  • Experience identifying and developing new business opportunities
  • An understanding of the tertiary education and professional development sectors
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing a sound business development plan
  • Outstanding presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current networks and contacts within the legal sector
  • Proven ability to achieve concrete results with integrity and professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to all levels across diverse audiences and influence decision makers
