The opportunity

Reporting to the Service Manager, we currently have an excellent opportunity for an Underwriter to join our Broker Distributions SME team.  The location of the role is flexible, depending on where the successful candidate is located.  We have locations in Paramatta and Newcastle.

This role will offer you the chance to use your underwriting skills and flair and work as part of a progressive team with scope for career development long term in SME.

We are looking for a commercially astute individual who is an open thinker and is able to develop networks and relationships both internally and with intermediaries. 

The successful candidate will also bring with them to the role initiative, drive, a commitment to excellence in client service, an ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines and the desire to work as part of a high performing team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Underwriting new business and renewals providing quotes in a timely and professional manner in line with agreed service standards.
  • Responding to customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Working with Service Standards as agreed with Manager.

What does success look like?

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Previous Underwriting experience is required
  • Relationship development, including visitations, with a variety of brokers
  • Experience of developing a growing portfolio
  • A self-motivated individual you will have excellent communication skills, problem-solving and process improvement experience.
  • Relevant insurance or tertiary qualifications desirable.
