Juvenile Justice NSW supervises and provides custodial and community-based services for youths in custody and the community. Its aim to work with young people to reduce their reoffending, rehabilitate and return them to society.

An exciting opportunity exists for Casual Youth Officers to join our Acmena Juvenile Justice Centre in Grafton. Opened in 1999, the centre is located in South Grafton, an hour drive North West of Coffs Harbour and accommodates up to 45 young people, predominately from the far North Coast, Mid North Coast and New England areas.

About the role

  • Supervise young people in custody and ensure all their needs are met on a daily basis
  • Respond to challenging situations
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for the young people and staff
  • Proactively avert risk and solve problems
  • Act as a role model for young people
  • Work in accordance with relevant department legislation, policies and procedures

Requirements of the role:

  • An Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a visa that allows you work in Australia
  • Possession or willingness to obtain the 'Provide First Aid Certificate' (HLTAID003)
  • Possession of a minimum Provisional 2 NSW Driver's licence
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • NSW Working With Children Check Clearance
  • Availability to complete an initial 3 weeks of full-time training to prepare you for entry-level duties.
  • National Background Police Check
  • Medical and Fitness Assessment
