Fleet/Workshop Manager

AHG Refrigerated Logistics (AHG RL) represents Australia’s only truly national temperature controlled supply chain network as a result of bringing together; Scott’s, Rand, Harris and JAT to form one single business.  With more than 60 years’ combined experience, AHG RL are leaders in refrigerated logistics, providing temperature controlled delivery and warehousing services to clients across Australia.

AHG RL are currently looking for a dedicated and results driven Fleet/Workshop Manager based at our Direk facility to assist the business development strategy and initiative for the company through management of repairs and maintenance for all the AHG RL fleet of vehicles inclusive of SA and WA. This role will also be responsible for the administration of all fleet repairs and maintenance in accordance with AHG RL operating, maintenance and financial objectives along with the administration and maintenance of outside vendor and service provider relationships.  

Responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Support both the operations and the workshop in the day to day responsibilities of repairs and maintenance of all AHG RL fleet equipment.
  • Liaise with internals regarding business opportunities and co-ordination of operations.
  • Liaise between all State fleet supervisors on issues with regard to fleet repairs and servicing.
  • Ensure scheduled repairs are effected with the least amount of disruption to operations.
  • Identify and implement service improvement and opportunities.
  • Implement and administer the NHVAS maintenance system.
  • Oversee fuel data for S.A. and W.A. depots.
  • Ensure repairs are effected within economical pricing parameters to maintain the lowest possible cents per kilometre.
  • Cognisance and recognition of legislation governing relevant industrial issues, occupational health and safety, dangerous goods, trade practices, environment protection etc.
  • Apply sound industrial relations techniques and procedures in the development of a safe and harmonious work environment.
  • Organise breakdowns and repairs by sub-contractors as required on a 24hour, seven days per week basis.
  • Authorise all tyre purchases and repairs.
  • Authorise all sub-let and internal repair invoices.

The successful candidate will have: 

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position as a fleet or workshop manager within a commercial vehicle workshop 
  • Mechanical Trade Certificate or experience in a similar position with a proven mechanical aptitude and technical ability 
  • Computer literacy 
  • Prior knowledge of Fleet Management and MT Data, CoolTrax and Data Fuel will be preferential 
  • Able to demonstrate a strong focus on WHS
