Fortitude Valley's most celebrated lifestyle destination - the James Street Precinct - is being elevated even further with the opening of The Calile Hotel in September.

Spanning seven levels, the urban resort is a natural expression of this sophisticated city-fringe destination. It offers 175 rooms including 11 suites – all generously sized and open to natural light and city vistas. These rooms rise above a vibrant podium level with poolside dining and serviced cabanas.

The resort also comprises a day spa, function spaces, a Grand Ballroom for over 500 guests and a fitness centre, as well as two additional bar and restaurant venues and 15 retail tenancies. Directly inspired by its subtropical locale, The Calile will bring a refreshing edge to the Brisbane hotel landscape.

About the Role

The Calile, Brisbane are looking for an experienced Kitchen Stewards to join the team and ensure that our high standards are upheld and maintained in all aspects of kitchen operations.  This includes working as a strong team player and contributing to an environment of learning and professionalism within the kitchen. In order to be successful in the position the main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist and liaise with chef on duty with basic food preparation; grating, peeling, chopping, preparing batters, garnishes and seasonings
  • Attend to guest requests efficiently,  constantly striving to provide a superior customer experience
  • Cleaning and maintenance of cooking utensils and cutlery used in the kitchen and/or restaurant
  • Cleaning of walls, floors, general kitchen work spaces and food storage areas including fridges, cool rooms and dry goods stores, ensuring that principles of food hygiene are being observed; report any hazards or problems to the Head Chef immediately
  • Ensure all Food Safety Policies and logs are adhered too and completed daily
