Sport Project Officer - Female Friendly

  • Full time until August 2022
  • Female friendly facility upgrade program
  • $86,648 - $94,276 plus super, plus RDO

 

Sport plays an important role in maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of the Boroondara community.  In our community, there is a high demand for the use of sports facilities, and we have experienced strong growth in participation by women and girls. Therefore, we are responding by investing to ensure that our facilities cater for increased diversity, inclusion and participation in sport, through a $9M program to enhance pavilions. 

 

In this position, you will report to the Team Leader Sport Planning.  This exciting opportunity will enable you to project plan and work with our Projects & Strategy team, who will deliver the works. You will manage all stakeholder relationships and ensure the end product delivers our community need.

 

 

Duties

  • Develop and refine the project plan for implementation of the capital works program
  • Provide a high level of stakeholder engagement to ensure project outcomes meet our community need
  • Align project deliverables to budgeted and grant funding to ensure successful delivery of this major capital spend
  • Provide professional and prompt advice to internal and external customers in matters relating to improvements to Council facilities which provide for increased diversity, inclusion and participation in sport
  • Examine and prepare reports, briefing papers and correspondence for senior management and Council in respect of the diversity, inclusion and participation in sport project, including a report back to Council on the project’s success.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of community sport and recreation provision principles
  • Well established community consultation, communication and liaison skills
  • Knowledge and ability in club development, project planning, facility planning, policy research and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of community, sport and recreation groups
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current sport and recreation industry trends and issues.

 

Qualifications & Employment Requirements

  • A degree qualification in sport, recreation, leisure or a related field and demonstrated experience in working with a variety of community, sport and recreation groups, preferably in a local government setting
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Police Record Check.
