The University Library sits within the Academic Division and plays a pivotal role in supporting the learning and research needs of the UON community.  Library staff work in partnership with the University community to provide access to high quality information resources and management services, tailored programs of student and researcher support, and first class learning spaces.

Within the Learning and Engagement portfolio the Client Experience team deliver innovative, client focused site-based services, student spaces with integrated models of help and support. The MakerSpace provides a space for technological innovation, collaboration and experimentation within the Library.

What will you do?

Coordinate high quality client focused services delivered to students and staff through the Library MakerSpace facilities. You will take a lead role on the design and delivery of a program of workshops that uses innovative technology to enhance education, learning and research. In addition to this you will:

  • Assist in the promotion of MakerSpace, utilising multiple communication platforms including social media
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and repair equipment and/or escalate to specialist support as required.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including teaching staff, Library Staff, ICT, students and community groups where appropriate to deliver activities and develop communities of practice

About you 

We are excited to launch MakerSpace at our Ourimbah Library and are seeking a technically sound and creative self-starter to own this role. The right person for this role will be excited to be part of creating something new, a strong communicator and genuine people person. You will enjoy a fast paced environment and value the quality service delivery is important.

  • Understanding of and/or experience with relevant technologies including: CNC machine, laser cutter, 3D printers, power tools, electronics, sewing machine, virtual reality, video and sound recording.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to work as part of a cohesive, cross-functional team and build productive relationships with Faculty and other relevant staff.  
  • Demonstrated organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, including the ability to work to deadlines and to deal with unforeseen or changing circumstances.

The remuneration is from $66,520- $72,958 + 17% super and is commensurate with experience
