We are seeking diverse and motivated 1st year applications for our 2020 Apprenticeship Program across BHP’s WA Iron Ore and Nickel West operations. Commencing in early 2020, we are offering a number of Residential, Fly-In-Fly-Out and Drive in Drive Out, opportunities across our Perth, Pilbara & Goldfield Operations in Western Australia.


About the role:


This is an outstanding opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander school leavers and mature aged candidates to develop a dynamic and fulfilling career. The program is delivered to develop cultured, engaged, highly skilled and work ready apprentices to our business.  It will be a structured program with practical hands on and theoretical learning required to achieve the competencies of the program.


Nationally Accredited Trade Certificates being offered in 2020 may include;

  • Heavy Duty Diesel Fitting (Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology);

  • Electrical (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician);

  • Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III in Engineering –Mechanical Trade);

  • Automotive Electrician (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology);

  • Refrigeration Technician (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Refrigeration/Air Conditioning);

  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (Cert III in Heavy Diesel - Automotive);

  • Communications Technician (Cert III in Electronics and Communications); and

  • Plumbing (Certificate III in Plumbing);

  • Boilermaker (Heavy Fabrication) (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication).

     

    About You:

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; 

  • Demonstrated interest in your chosen trade through work experience or hobby / interests;

  • A high commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedures;

  • Motivation to achieve personal work goals and objectives;

  • A strong desire to learn and develop a range of new skills associated with your chosen trade;

  • A team player with a willingness to work with others and contribute to achieve results.

  • Identify as a 1st year Apprentice in your chosen field. Existing ‘Metals” based Trade Qualifications unable to be considered; 

  • Must have a current, valid Australian ‘Learners’ Drivers Licence. A full ‘C’ class Manual DVL will need to be held prior to completing your apprenticeship.
