Shooting Stars is an initiative of Netball WA and Glass Jar Australia which uses netball and other engagement strategies as vehicles to encourage greater engagement and attendance at school of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) girls living in WA’s remote communities and regional towns.

We are currently looking for a vibrant and energetic person to join our Shooting Stars team based at Mullewa District High School.

This role is responsible for the development, coordination and delivery of the Shooting Stars program at Mullewa District High School with the primary aim of increasing overall participation in netball and school attendance of female students.

In addition to above, some of the responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of community netball within the wider Mullewa community.
  • Working to strengthen pathways of engagement and increase participation with the sport through existing indigenous programs.
  • Building the capacity and sustainability of the program through the identification of new community engagement initiatives with community stakeholders/ commercial partners.
  • Work with Netball WA to grow the netball brand in a dynamic way through community engagement initiatives, stakeholders, partners and other channels.

This is a hands-on role that will work collaboratively with the school principal and needs someone with an appreciation of Western Australia's Indigenous communities. 

To be successful in this role you will need initiative, excellent interpersonal and networking skills along with a willingness to work in the field and engage with local communities. If you are passionate about advancing Indigenous participation in sport through the provision of services to rural and remote communities then we would like to hear from you.

Previous experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry or community development will be highly regarded and Indigenous people are encouraged to apply.
