The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health has more than 600 staff and students who are passionately committed to researching the way the brain works. We are internationally renowned for our discoveries and research on the central nervous system and associated brain disorders.
Key areas of interest include addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, depression, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, stroke and traumatic and spinal cord injury.
About the role:
An excellent opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to join an outstanding team of scientists and staff, and work on the Healthy Brain Project Sleep Study in the Dementia Group at our Parkville facility. The Healthy Brain Project is a large community-based initiative to understand optimal brain health and aging, with a particular focus on characterizing risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease (https://www.healthybrainproject.org.au/).
The candidate will be required to visit participants at their home to perform the set-up of a Somte polysomnography sleep study. Set up will generally occur within metropolitan Melbourne at the participants residence and at a time convenient to the participant, proximal to their habitual bed time.
Other duties include administering a brief questionnaire and maintaining accurate records of data; and the collection of the Somte device at a time convenient to the participant on the following day.

The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor of Science or a related discipline
- Experience in the set-up of polysomnography preferably the Somte device
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively and flexible work arrangements.
The casual hourly rate on offer is in the range of $34.31 (CW3) - $39.67 (CW4) commensurate with experience, plus superannuation and salary packaging options.
