Sports Liaison Officer

Support our community, be the primary contact for liaison with sporting clubs and other supporting organisations and associations.

 

About You

Sport plays an important role in maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of the Boroondara community.  You are well organised and able to plan for the allocation of in demand sporting assets. As the first point of contact, you will have a customer centric approach with a positive can do attitude to best place you in responding to any concerns of our sporting clubs and community groups in respect of sports ground assets and facilities.  

 

Duties

This is a busy and varied role with responsibility areas including sports liaison, sport development and facility management for seasonal and pre-seasonal arrangements. A sampling of duties is as follows.

 

  • Be responsible for: seasonal sportsground allocations; seasonal pavilion access; pre-season club training allocations; and website reviews and updates
  • Correspond with sports clubs and stakeholders with issues related to sport across the municipality including sports turf and sports facility maintenance
  • Administer fees and charges for the use of facilities associated with Council’s sportsgrounds and pavilions
  • Assist with the planning of improvements and development of Council’s sportsgrounds, sports pavilions and open space facilities
  • With support, oversee the coordination of tenant key and bond administration processes and systems
  • With our turf team, carry out inspections and reporting of facilities associated with sportsgrounds.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of sport and/or recreation, preferably in a local government context, but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to sporting clubs and their committees and operations at a local level
  • Ability to resolve issues by problem solving and negotiation
  • Sound planning and organisational skills.

     

Qualifications & Employment Requirements

  • Diploma in Recreation, Sport Management or related field and/or demonstrated experience in recreation or facility management is desirable
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Police Record Check.
