Claims Team Leader

nib Group is a trusted international health partner, empowering our members to make better decisions and improve health outcomes through greater accessibility to affordable health services and information.

nib Group provides health and medical insurance to over 1.5 million Australian and New Zealand residents. We also provide health insurance to more than 160,000 international students and workers in Australia.

Due to internal movement, an exciting opportunity exists for a Claims Team Leader to join our Claims and Policy Administration team. Based within our Newcastle Head Office and reporting to the Head of Claims and Policy Administration, this role leads a diverse team of Claims officers.

As the Claims Team Leader you will influence and drive your team to achieve superior results while utilising your previous expertise in reviewing existing processes and implementing improvements to ensure that best practice is achieved.

A day in the life of Claims Team Leader would include:

  • Developing team members through coaching, constructive feedback, counselling and recognitions
  • Facilitating performance plans, performance reviews, development and training plans for the Claims Officers
  • Providing leadership support for escalated claim issues for all team members
  • Ensure continuous improvement by spearheading projects that align with the nib Group strategy and business goals

We work in a high volume environment with our members at the forefront of our minds.  We regularly ‘challenge the norm’, so if you have an enquiring mind where you enjoy working and collaborating to achieve best practice outcomes, this could be your next career move.

Why it’s worth it

You will be part of a proactive, positive and collaborative team where you will play a key partnering role across all levels of the nib Group to provide exceptional service and outcomes for our customers.

Nothing beats working in a friendly, interactive and challenging work environment that supports your career development! We will give you the support you need to help balance your career with the things that make your life rich – such as family, health and doing the things you love.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in inspirational people leadership and building high performance teams
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation experience
  • High attention to detail and inquisitive approach to achieving great results
  • Computer savvy, with an ability to pick up systems and work with databases with ease
  • Driven to achieve and exceed individual and team KPI’s
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • Flexible and positive outlook and attitude that considers the impossible possible.

Whilst you do no need health fund experience, working in an operational capacity within a large multi-disciplined organisation would be beneficial.
