The University of Queensland Library has one of the largest collections amongst Australian academic libraries and is by far the largest in Queensland. The collection includes access to 2.4 million book titles (electronic and print) and 148,000 journal titles (electronic and print). Our institutional repository, UQ eSpace, houses over 330,000 items authored or co-authored by UQ affiliated researchers, including more than 196,000 journal articles, 61,000 conference papers, and 19,000 theses.

About This Opportunity

As the Student IT Support Officer, your role will be to provide Tier 2 IT Support to UQ students through technical knowledge and troubleshooting. You will provide assistance via phone, email and face-to-face, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software faults, while maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction. You will collaborate with colleagues within the UQ Library and train Client Service Officers on providing Tier 1 Support, enabling a positive customer experience for all UQ Students. Evening, weekend and/or roster work may be required.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

As the successful candidate, you will have experience in a similar role with either a diploma in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have a customer service focus, with good communication skills and an ability to be patient and empathetic. You will be a quick learner, with the ability to learn new technologies and systems with ease. You will have an ability to think outside the box and take initiative in providing solutions to complex issues.

What We Can Offer

This is a full time, continuing position at HEW level 4.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $62,342 - $66,291, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.

You will be able to take advantage of UQ Sport Facilities, salary sacrificing options, on-campus childcare, discounted private health insurance, affordable parking, development programs and many other benefits.
