Case Worker - Domestic and Family Violence

At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. Our role is to work side by side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.

Atunypa Wiru Minyma Uwankaraku’ Service is a domestic and family violence support and advocacy service for Aboriginal women and children living in the NPY region. The service is informed by a holistic relational understanding of violence which acknowledges the key role of family and community relationships in working effectively with indigenous clients. 

We are now recruiting for a Case Worker to participate in community development and engagement Domestic and Family Violence programs whilst maintaining a caseload of clients. The role will be split between working out in the communities and at the central Head Office in Alice Springs.

The ideal person will have previous experience working in Domestic and Family Violence, a relevant qualification such as Social Work, Community Development or Law with an interest in working for a community service organisation. Ideally, you will also have knowledge or an interest in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and across cultural environments.

The right person will have the ability to reflect and develop their reflective practice skills. We’re looking for someone who is open, not afraid to ask questions and seeks support from their colleagues and manager.

We provide a comprehensive, culturally aware 3-month orientation program, best practice clinical supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma and case management training along with critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, additional superannuation, salary packaging benefits, 6 weeks of annual leave, 3 weeks of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
