General Manager - Strategic Sourcing


Our CBD based Client, an exciting and dynamic organisation, is currently seeking a GM – Strategic Sourcing to be responsible for the entire supplier life-cycle.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager, some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic direction to the sourcing approach, develop and embed sourcing and vendor management strategies.
  • Develop strategies and programs to evaluate purchasing needs and trends; direct expenditure analysis activities to support strategic sourcing initiatives and financial performance objectives.
  • Provide direction to the strategic sourcing process to ensure the proper due diligence and integration activities are completed.
  • Drive procurement process improvement, demand management, sustainable cost reduction, purchasing visibility and credibility across material suppliers to achieve sustainable cost reductions over the medium term.
  • Oversee the performance of suppliers and contribute to development of supplier performance measures, guidelines and tracking processes.
  • Support internal stakeholders in the negotiation of complex arrangements with key suppliers to improve value.
  • Build organisational and individual capability with regards to supplier relationship management.
  • Lead and support optimal contract management and effective relationship development with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including development of contract management plans within the Supplier Management Framework.

To be considered for this opportunity you will have:

  • Prior experience in strategic sourcing / supplier management.
  • High levels of commercial acumen and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated success in formulating strategic sourcing strategies, developing and maintaining effective relationships with key suppliers, and methods of ensuring satisfactory supplier performance.
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging spend across the enterprise; strong project management and leadership capability.
  • Experience in identifying business opportunities that maximise profitability and being able to influence sourcing decisions with business partners across the organisation.
  • Collaborative approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • An ability to lead through ambiguity and an ever changing landscape.
  • Ability to lead and influence others at all levels in the organisation and be outcome focused.
