Unit Manager - Roads Construction

Overview

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking a qualified leader to coordinate team of professional, technical and outdoor staff, as well as manage Councils in house construction activities.

Your New Role

Reporting directly to the Unit Manager – Asset Construction & Maintenance, the focus of this position is to:

  • To provide progressive leadership to a multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of high quality asset construction and maintenance with a particular focus on roads assets
  • Manage a team of professional, technical and outdoor staff undertaking contract administration and surveillance activities delivering council works infrastructure projects and programs, including but not limited to road sealing and contract and construction.
  • To foster and encourage best practice and current advances in design and construction principles and standards using Council’s in house construction activities.
  • Support and manage the day to day operations of the Roads Team staff, finances and assets
  • Ensure processes and protocols are in place for the Roads Team’s compliance with all relevant legislation, technical specifications, and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.

About You

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Not less than 5 years experience in Civil Engineering in delivery of civil infrastructure, particularly roadworks
  • Class C Drivers Licence
